The Yoga class I thought would kill me!

yoga4I went to my first Yoga class about a month ago. One of the reasons I started Yoga was because my mum has been doing it for quite some time and looks fabulous.

My first experience at Yoga was not at all what I thought it would be.

I thought that because I run and work out a bit that I would find it a piece of cake.  Well that wasn’t quite the case, as the instructor started the lesson with Mountain pose I thought wow this is easy I can do this, no problem. Until she then told us to do a downward facing dog. Well that did it, I couldn’t believe how hard that was to do!  As we went from one position to the next I could feel my legs, arms whole body getting strong.

Then we were asked to do the Warrior pose. Which was okay at first but after the 10th breath, I felt like my arms were going to drop. I was going to put them down, when I looked over to see that my mum still had her arms up. That was it there was no way I was going to drop them until she did or the instructor told us to!

I realize now that it takes practice to get the poses down and that it doesn’t matter what age you are, you can do it.  I now have caught the Yoga bug - just like my mum :-)
