The beautiful Vancouver seawall
Because the Get Strong Girls live in Vancouver, on the “Wet” Coast, we test out a lot of rain gear. But today…today is sunny and it is warm. It’s the nicest running weather we’ve had since November.
But me, I am at home. Not running. And since I can’t run today I will instead celebrate our nice weather with a random list of unattributed running quotes to inspire those who can:
- It hurts up to a point and then it doesn’t get any worse.
- You have to forget your last marathon before you try another. Your mind can’t know what’s coming.
- Long, slow distance produces long, slow runners.
- Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?
- Champions are made when no one is watching.
- For me, running is a lifestyle and an art. I’m far more interested in the magic of it than the mechanics.
- While running, it is rude to count the people you pass out loud.
- Anyone can run 100 meters. . . . It’s the next 2900, 3900 or 4900 that count!
- The long run puts the tiger in the cat.
- I love running cross country….on a track, I feel like a hamster
- We can’t all be heroes because someone has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.
And one more, from Steve Prefontaine:
- A lot of people run a race to see who’s the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts.
Tomorrow, I’ll run. It’s a 13 miler as I gear up for my next half at the BMO Vancouver Marathon. I ‘m happy to see the weather should be even warmer.
Happy trails!
