Disappointed when I got to the finish line!

I have decided to train for another half marathon and here’s the reason why.
Two years ago I trained hard to get in shape for my first half marathon. I joined a running class, ran with friends, and ran on my own. I remember feeling scared and excited about this training as all I had done so far was a few 10 K runs. My girlfriend and I chose to do one of the easiest races – the UBC fall classic half marathon. I won’t bore you with all the exciting details. However, I finished the race and looked forward to receiving my first medal. What did I get? NOTHING!!! not even a participation medal, oh I did get a hat…I was extremely disappointed as I wanted that medal to wrap around my neck and show the world that I have finished a half marathon. Still, I was excited that I had completed my FIRST half marathon!
I have recently heard that they now hand out medals. This is why I have now decided to give it another try….this time I shall make sure I get that medal.

Congrats on doing the half marathon!
How do you train for a walk or a run?
Hi Urmila, I joined a running group to help me train for the half marathon. I find that I need to belong to a group to help me push through the hard parts. Like having to get up at 7 am to run. If someone is relying on you then you have to show up. Then once you are finished you feel so good and you are glad you went!
No medal? That isn’t right for a half marathon! Good luck with this race, the half marathon is my favorite distance!
Way to go, you did it once and you’ll do great again!
