Food review: check your serving size!

I am always looking for new products on the shelves to try out. I am such a foodie – if it says it is new I will buy it. That is also why I have a love affair with Hungry Girl.
I was in the local grocery store and I came across frozen cheesecake which was on a promotion price. I checked the nutritional information on the side and it said 60 calories for the small yogurt container (or so I thought). I went home and before I could unload all the groceries I just had to eat this tempting dessert as I hadn’t indulged in cheesecake for a long, long time. It was cold, had a yummy blueberry topping with a crunchy graham crust at the bottom. YUM YUM. I finished it in about 2 seconds flat. I was
going to dive into the next container as I thought 2 containers = 120 calories, and what the heck, I can afford that.
Wait a minute, these are just too good to be true! About half way through the second container, I began to doubt the calories being stated on the side. Upon better inspection, there were 6 servings in one tiny container!!! I felt so deceived by this company. 360 calories in each one with 6 times the fat I had anticapated, that I cannot afford. So ladies, read the labels on everything carefully and I hope you will not buy any product that is so misleading. Shame on you-Cheesecake People.

About the Author: I am a gym junkie but always find myself looking for new ways to stay active. You can usually find me hanging with my 2 kids at the soccer field, ice rink, dance studio or swimming pool. Other than that, I am usually at my computer, watching ellen, or making some fab dish for my hubby.

That is amazing. I’m a label reader for ingredients, but didn’t even THINK about checking them for serving size, too. Same holds true for drinks – soda and juice bottles are often 2 – 2.5 servings, not the single serving most people make them out to be!!
Sneaky! I was craving carbs this week (bad I know) and I went to look at the ritz crackers because they are my weakness in life, and now they make cute lil snack size packages. It said 40 calories on it, which of course made no sense, I know my Ritz, my first weight gain (starting HS) was due to Ritz and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream after school LOL So I looked and the serving size was 5 crackers. Wouldn’t you think that the SNACK SIZE would equal a SERVING? 140 is more truthful. It just seemed very sneaky to me
