Sensei For Weight Loss Review

imagesWhen I was asked to review the  Sensei Weight Loss program, I was very excited about it.  I do have 10lbs to lose and I have tried many programs in the past, some with greater success than others. Sensei’s plan is accessible via computer and many cel phones, including the ipod touch. A quick perusal of their website showed a large list of the types of phones that you can use with the program, however I am using the on-computer program for this review because my cel phone is a senior citizen in terms of “technology years”.

Sensei describes the program as “making weight loss part of your life, not part of your work”. Indeed, I am finding the Sensei program very easy to use and I like that it takes over much of the work of calorie counting and exercise planning for me.  Once signed up and logged in – a painless process – I was asked some questions about my eating habits and preferences, my fitness level and activities and some other questions like what I find challenging during my weight loss journey.  Based on my answers Sensei created a very detailed meal and activity plan specifically for my needs.

The plan does take the work out of meal planning and calorie counting and suggests fantastic meals to boot. One thing I really like is how you get to pick different types of healthy meals and you can switch your meal plan at any time.  Choices of meal plans include low carb, balanced carb and mediterranean meals – there seems to be something for everyone.

The day after signing up I woke up to an email from Sensei containing my specific grocery list on it plus my personal meal plan for the week.  Many items on the grocery list I had on hand and so I only had to buy a handful of the perishables items. I really like that the grocery bill is not going to go up, in fact Sensei might be right about saving up to 20% on groceries.  Unlike other plans (and I have tried several over the years) I don’t have to buy special foods and I can shop for the week all at once; that is a GREAT time saver for a busy mom like me.

My daily email from Sensei tells me what I am eating for the day, the exercises I need to complete (based on what I had chosen) plus a tip to help me stay on track. I have been following the plan fairly closely so far, and I’ll update again soon and let you know how it is going.

would love to try this out! I lost 20lbs and need to lose an additional 30 – 40 lbs … I gained all that weight when I lost 4 family memebers all on the same day (12/4/2001) and it’s been a long struggle – I’ve finally found my stride and meeting my goals – I will get there!

I am going to check out Sensei. It sounds like the perfect plan to lose weight. It is much easier when everything is done for you. I agree with the fact that most diets are expensive. It is just me and my husband most of the time at home and I spend over 200.00 a week trying to eat healthy.

  5. I like the idea that you don’t have to buy special foods for the diet and the grocery list is on your phone.!!
Thanks for letting us know about this product.

Wow! Sensei sounds PERFECT! I especially love that it sends you personalized meal plans and communicates with you daily. Most important, as you mentioned, the fact that the grocery list is mostly items you normally have at home. And I love it’s name “Teacher” in Japanese. Yikes! Seems like I need to jump on board with Sensei … or win your contest ;) Have a great day!
