Something like that happened to a girl I went to school with as well. I don't think she was paralyzed but she was severely hurt and immobile after the accident. I was dropped from a mount onto my tail bone and it still bothers me to this day. We had another girl that totaly over rotated dismounting, missed the spotters and landed on her neck. There was no adult in site and yes the coach was someones mom. I hope that schools will take Cheerleading more seriously now and put the proper measures in place. Lucy Great article.
