I think a Marathon is a great goal, but how about a little smaller first? My friends at Nutrisystem that started running during their weight loss journey love it and now run Half Marathons!

I think running is an excellent way to lose weight along with a great plan like WW.

Whatever you decide to do it will work!

This could have been me writing this post!

I gained 40 pounds with each of my two pregnancies (the second one, a BIT more than 40, if we want to be accurate). I managed to come withing 6-7 pounds of my original weight before having my second kid, and now, after delivering 9 months ago, I'm glad to say that Weight Watchers Online has helped me trim me back to 2 pounds off my original weight!

It's still a work-in-progress, and I'm making the mental shift change from a lose-weight mantra to a keep-healthy one. I'm looking into running a Half Marathon next year, my second one in 6 years. And although the idea of "weighing more" while training for a race goes against everything I have been focused on for the past four months, I'm searching for the healthier lifestyle, to find the athlete-within again.

My reason, though, for choosing a Half, having already done one ("why do another one?") is to seek the accomplishment and thrill of victory once again. Losing weight is already challenging in itself, and I'm always up for a challenge. Think I can't do it....done, it's on my list!

So, do the Marathon to find your athlete-within. To join thousands of others in celebrating the ability to move, for there are those who can't. To feel the power in your moving legs as the wind picks you up and carries you up that hill. To feel the accomplishment in being healthy and not simply looking healthy.

See you at the finish line!

I think running helps in weight loss but like everything there is a plataeu point. however, the time away is meditative, so your mental health is sure to climb. I THINK I'M LEARNING THAT HAVING A GOAL IS THE REASON I STICK WITH IT... so do the marathon if you want to achieve the goal.... not so much as a way to loose weight.
