How do you feel when you DON’T workout?

This has been a great week. I’ve run consistently and feel really good about it.
But in the weeks prior, I’ve felt fat and lazy and…well, I’ve been really disappointed in myself. If I skip a workout, I’m REALLY hard on myself. But oddly, one skipped workout leads easily to two, then three…and suddenly I realize I haven’t worked out for a month. It’s a slippery slope, not just from a physical point of view, but also from a mental perspective.
How do you feel when you don’t work out?
Do you feel like you deserve the break?
Do you feel guilty?
Fat?
Lazy?
Do you get down on yourself?
I have to admit that many times what gets me out the door in my runners is the fact that if I don’t, I’ll be so mad at myself, so grumpy…so disgusted. Feeling lazy. Fat. And often it leads to more eating….more…junk to shovel in my mouth.
But let’s look at the flip side…
When I run I feel good.
I come back in a sweat.
I come back out of breath.
I come back tired.
I come back on a high.
So why is it so easy to ignore that good feeling? So easy to just slip into self loathing? Have women always been this way? Or are we a product of the 21st century?
Self image is a funny creature. Not funny ha-ha. Exasperating. Unyielding. Unbendable.
What word describes how you feel when you don’t work out?

This post is a great reminder as to why I never regret working out. Even when I REALLY don’t feel like it.
I NEVER EVER EVER miss a day of work out! I know in the future with the career path I am shooting for I might have to but when the time comes, I will deal with it then… but as of now, I don’t miss a day of working out because it is such an energizer – Every once in a blue moon I do have to miss it because of a road trip… or something of that nature and those few few few days that I don’t get my exercise in, I feel like 100% crap! I am tired and just want to go to sleep and I get incredibly cranky and feel like a fat blob…. So yea, working out is not only an boost but it also gives me a heck of a lot more self esteem and makes me feel just all over wonderful, even if the day sucks in other respects!
i never work out on the weekends, and i always feel fine. but if i skip one or more weekdays working out, i feel what i call “lumpish” like my body is one big lump with no energy. i have little appetite, and after a few days, i get very cranky. its not that i feel fat, i just feel soft, and tired. usually i only skip it if i HAVE to and it never gets to more than a couple days so.. its easy to fix my bad mood by going to the gym again! the results are almost instantaneous.
