The key to achieving weight loss success

Well, if you think I have that key, I really don’t. I do know that calories out
need to be more than calories in….blah blah blah. We all know that. Why are so many of us still struggling to lose weight, if it is that simple? Why is the weight loss a billion dollar industry? What is really the key to success?
Why I am failing at my weight loss quest…
I am an all or nothing type of person. I will follow a rigid plan of not allowing myself any junk food and exercising everyday, no exceptions and I do this for as long as possible. And when I fail, because I always do, I am so hard on myself. Well, I can’t make my life work like that, no one can!
I need to realize that there are days that are good, following the healthy plan and some plain old days there is no way I can squeeze a workout in, extra cookie, yes, workout, no. Rather than tossing all my good intentions out the window for a week once I slip up, I need to get right back on the healthy wagon the very next day.
I need to find a plan that’s flexible and works for me. I need to change my perspective on how to reach my weight loss goal and I will be on my way to a whole new happier me! Darn it, us woman can’t do it all!
Does this sound like you?
How do you cope when days let you down? Eat more? Go for a Run? Wine? Bath? OK, don’t tell me about the food or the wine…healthy coping on a hard day is what I really meant ; )

About the Author: I am a gym junkie but always find myself looking for new ways to stay active. You can usually find me hanging with my 2 kids at the soccer field, ice rink, dance studio or swimming pool. Other than that, I am usually at my computer, watching ellen, or making some fab dish for my hubby.

Thanks Jodie and Mindy for your support and yes, get right back on the program at the next meal not the next day!
The all or nothing really does not work for most people because they think more about what they can’t eat & then crash & eat everything in site. Yes, some people can handle the all or nothing BUT I learned the hard way that I need to allow some treats in there. I am one that plans for them so I know what I want to eat & I don’t waste it on something I really don’t want.. you know like at a party & you eat just because it is there & then you say, I really did not want that so why did I eat it. I always step back before then & think, do I really want this or would I rather enjoy something I really want. Also, think about what it will take to get that poundage off if you are ready to go hog wild!!
The thing about food & exercise is that it is best to find a program that you can live with for life. We are all different so there are lots of great & healthy foods out there so figure out what works for you & what you will enjoy, not your friend or neighbor. And same with exercise. Also, mixing up exercise will keep you from boredom & from overuse injuries.
The biggest thing is to stay consistent, find things you can stick with long term & they do change along the way.. I have changed my food & exercise program MANY TIMES… and always get right back on if you fall off.. not tomorrow or Monday but the next meal! Don’t get down on yourself & beat yourself up. Just keep plugging along. It works!
And yes, patience is key! It takes time to do it right!
you are on the right track now you just have to be patient!
