It really is a whole new way of looking at food. I have always had a problem with food. I lost 80 lbs when I was 19 but over time and having kids I have gained it all back, plus some. I realized it is something I cannot change on my own, so I brought my request to my maker. Yep, my loving Lord and Saviour. He knows me better than I know myself. He's given me the will/everything to do it.
I watched a show my Mom told me about on Netflix. It is called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". It is a documentary about a guy who was 100lbs. overweight and having body problems and was on meds for it. He decided to do a 60 day juice fast. That's extreme but he was doing it for a purpose. Anyhow, I got inspiration from this show in that, I eat way to much processed food/fast food. I need to get down to what the good Lord gave us. Fruits and veggies. So I began my journey last week. I only did the juice fast for 1 week...basically to detox my body. In that week I lost 12 lbs! I feel great! I was so tired before on junk food and chemicals that I haven't had this much energy ever! I also realized how much I really like fruits and veggies and even crave them now! before when I lost weight I basically starved myself. I'm learning that if I do eat 2-3 hours healthy food, I keep my metabolism running to burn more fat. I'm also learning about 80/20. 80 % eating fantastically healthy...20 % not necessarily junk food but I do enjoy me some chicken wangs! If`n you know what I mean! lol You have to give yourself some room to have a piece of cake...just not every night...again 80/20 of the week.
Oh also I'm learning that cravings are a way for your body to tell you, you're lacking a nutrient (found in vegtable or fruit =) ) but instead, you get those fries...so because that nutrient need was not met, you go onto your next craving...ice cream! Yum! crashin and burnin.
So far, I've had no cravings. Anyhow, i know I went on and on...just felt I need to share...I'm so excited for my new way of thinking! I praise the Lord for it! He is good!

The all or nothing really does not work for most people because they think more about what they can't eat & then crash & eat everything in site. Yes, some people can handle the all or nothing BUT I learned the hard way that I need to allow some treats in there. I am one that plans for them so I know what I want to eat & I don't waste it on something I really don't want.. you know like at a party & you eat just because it is there & then you say, I really did not want that so why did I eat it. I always step back before then & think, do I really want this or would I rather enjoy something I really want. Also, think about what it will take to get that poundage off if you are ready to go hog wild!!

The thing about food & exercise is that it is best to find a program that you can live with for life. We are all different so there are lots of great & healthy foods out there so figure out what works for you & what you will enjoy, not your friend or neighbor. And same with exercise. Also, mixing up exercise will keep you from boredom & from overuse injuries.

The biggest thing is to stay consistent, find things you can stick with long term & they do change along the way.. I have changed my food & exercise program MANY TIMES... and always get right back on if you fall off.. not tomorrow or Monday but the next meal! Don't get down on yourself & beat yourself up. Just keep plugging along. It works!

And yes, patience is key! It takes time to do it right!
