Before energy bars,
we had other superfoods to fuel our bodies…
.
Like powerful little peanuts
.
Yup, before energy bars, we had low-tech natural food to eat while working out.

I love to eat those Chocolate Chip Crisp Atkins bars whenever I am on the go. And if I am out of those I grab a “Z” Bar – Yes, the ones I buy for my kids!!
I like jelly beans – the real kind, not the running kind.
And cookies.
Not “natural”, but good!
Okay, I admit it, I love energy bars. And I love everything high tech, especially my iPod.
But sometimes when I go for a really long weekend run, there’s just nothing like a grabbing a stack of hot, fluffy pancakes.
I grab them off the griddle, run out the door and devour them as I go. They pretty much melt in my mouth, give me long-lasting energy and taste, well, great!
Is that weird? Well, I’m the first to admit that runners, as a group, are definitely weird. Time to embrace it!
