Training for the Fall Classic

Susan~
I have been training for lets say “my medal”; instead of saying “the race”, in the fall classic. I say that, because I haven’t really been able to do too much running these days. Six months ago I was all gun ho in training for this half marathon. But then life changed a lot for me over the months, won’t bore you with details. Which made it hard to get out there and put in the miles.
Last weekend I went to Woodinville. What a beautiful trail they had there, I loved it! I wasn’t going to run, but was encouraged by my partner to go and see how I felt because earlier I was talking about quiting. I hate to quit in anything, so I agreed to take it slow and see how I felt. I started to run and after 5 minutes I felt like I needed to stop, that I was going to die!! I found it very hard and I was puffing like crazy. Then I realized I was running way too fast! After slowing down and getting into a pace that felt comfortable I was able to keep running. The view was beautiful, a perfect day for a run. Fifty minutes into the run my IT band gave up. I was so upset because everything else was working wonderful. I then had to walk/run for the remaining ten minutes. I felt great at the end and could of kept going but with my knee hurting I felt that I should stop and get it sorted before running again.
That’s why I said at the beginning I am training for the medal not the race. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow hopefully he will give me the okay to get back out there!

You’ll do it! Just keep your focus!
Time for me to look up “IT band”. Sorry it quit on you, but you don’t – and I won’t quit on myself either! Deal? I’ve gotta get back to working out. It’s been a week. Ugh.
