Girl Get Strong’s Holiday Gift Guide
Giving the Gifts of Health and Fitness
Footwear Edition
Shoes, shoes, shoes.
What girl has enough shoes?
Not this one! My eyes are always bigger than my wallet when it comes to shoes and handbags. So naturally, I had no problem finding fitness footwear that caught my eye for our holiday gift guide.
First, I should caution that if you are just beginning an exercise program that involves footwear – especially if you are starting a running program – you should go to a specialty shoe store with professional sales staff who are qualified to analyze your feet and your gait. Do you pronate? Are you flat-footed? Do you have knee problems? Find out what type of runner is suited to your feet before investing in runners.
The following fitness footwear may not be suitable for everyone, but gosh if they are suitable for you, these picks are so sleek and so sexy!
Nike Shox Navina+ iD Running Shoe
The women’s specific Nike Shox Navina+ iD Running Shoe is a well-cushioned option for the runner seeking a lightweight, sleek style built for performance.
- Radius heel Nike Shox midsole for a softer crash zone
- Nike+ enabled for instant workout feedback when used with a Nike SportBand or iPod nano and Nike + iPod Sport Kit
- Women’s-specific flex grooves for superior flexibility
- Customizable with independent left/right personal iDs and a choice of eight heel graphics
- Weight 10.7 ounces (women’s size 7)
An O Magazine pick! And they come in festive colors too with “tinsel” (shown) and “champagne” (not shown) debuting just in time for the holiday season.
►Better butts for women - 28% more effective glute muscle toning
► New advanced balance pod system tones butt and leg muscles
► Former NASA engineer creates new technology for toning shoes
Independent university lab tests proved that by wearing EasyTone, a woman could generate up to 28% more butt muscle activation compared to an ordinary sneaker. An added benefit for women is that EasyTone does all of that whilst retaining the good looks and style expected in a women’s shoe.
The shoe generates these results thanks to proprietary technology invented by former NASA engineer, Bill McInnis who now heads up the Advanced Innovation division at Reebok. McInnis spent 18 months perfecting a balance pod system in the sole of the shoe that creates natural instability with each step. This not only resulted in dramatic improvements when tested in the lab but the design was such that it could be worked into a shoe without compromising the look.
Reebok EasyTones Reeinspire are available at Nordstrom and Lady Foot Locker at a suggested retail price of $125.
