That’s right. These shoes promise to tighten and tone muscles, rev the metabolism and even burn cellulite as you walk.

I’m not sure about that. You might want to ask your doctor.
Hi Sian,
I am curious if you have any information regarding the benefits of toning shoes other than just the “toning” part of it. I have heard some women with osteoarthritis say that this style of shoe has helped them with their pain. Do you know of any studies that have been done on this?
Hello there, I could not find a means to contact you, and so I really hope that you see this comment. I own a website covering getting cheap trainers, and thought you would like to exchange links with me. I have entered my email address if you would like to get in contact. Thanks.
Thanks for the insights, Jean! I’ve had back issues since a car accident in ’96 and then in 2002 was hit by a car and needed to have my knee & tibia rebuilt/replaced. My dearly departed MBTs were sooo soft & cushiony & always felt great. Maybe this next week I’ll get a chance to hit some stores and try on some new alternatives.
with all of these shoes, you’d have to try them on to find out which works best for you. everyone’s foot is different. the sketchers didn’t work well for me. the material was hard, and both their MJs and tennis shoe version gave me lateral ankle pain. The Avia Pace (available at Sears) and New Balance have worked well for me; they’re soft and comfortable. Will be trying the Champion Pace from payless tomorrow. I’ve seen the Champion line before and they seem to be good shoes. I might end up buying the Pace tomorrow. These toning shoes are actually very good for people with arthritis in the ankle joints, knees and lower back, as well as forefoot pain and calluses. I’m a foot doctor and these type of shoes are really nothing new. They’re called rocker bottom shoes. i’ve been recommending them for a variety of foot problems. Hope that helps.
