Review: Yurtopia’s Yurbuds Earbud Enhancers

As a long distance runner and frequent dog walker, I spend many hours a week with earbuds crammed in my ears.  While they keep me good company over the long miles, I know firsthand how nasty it is to be in pain from my earbuds not fitting right, or worse, suffering the extreme irritation of having the darned things fall out as I run.  Ugh!

Enter yurbuds. These little babies fit right over your favorite pair of earbuds and not only are they reported to ensure your earbuds feel comfy and stay secure, they apparently improve sound quality as well.

Sound good?

Yup, that’s what I thought, too, so I gave them a go.

To get started, you just need to take a quick photo of your ear with your earbud in (if you don’t have your earbuds handy, see the yurtopia website for instruction) and submit the photo with your order to ensure your yurbuds are fitted to your own unique floppy sound catchers.

Ear fetish-ers, watch out!

The yurbuds stretch for a tight fit right overtop of your own earbuds.

They come in a cute little pouch…

Earbuds NOT included - I've already put the yurbuds on my own earbuds.

I found them comfortable and easy to wear right from the get-go.

I’ve now tested them for a couple of months and have found them to be absolutely great – my earbuds stay in my ears no matter what the weather.  I’ve tested them in Vancouver’s wind, rain, sleet, hail and snow as well as for three weeks in the sweaty Hawaiian heat.  I have no complaints and wouldn’t run without them.

I also find that sound quality is better (because of the better seal in my ear, perhaps?) although the flip side of that is to take even more caution regarding your surroundings as exterior noise is further diminished.

Verdict: now I don’t wear my earbuds without my yurbuds too.

  • Improves sound quality

The bad thing about those is the price. I found a product called Breppies that does exactly the same thing for 10% of the cost of these. I didn’t think they would work, but was totally surprised by how comfortable they were and how well they stayed in my ears, especially at the gym when I started sweating.

  2. Those are perfect! I definitely need a pair of those. The ones I have now have a little wire thing that goes behind my ears to keep them in place.

  3. Now those look cool and then I would not have to hear that music in the gym I don’t like! It sneaks thru my earbuds now!

I need a new pair and these look great. Mine keep slipping out of my ears…I hate that!
