If you have yet to hear about shoes that claim to ‘Tone’ you without going to the gym, you must be living under some sort of rock with sea creatures. We are continuing our “toning’ shoe ultimate show down on the pros and cons of all of these shaping shoes, wellness shoes or whatever the heck you want to call them. And, most importantly, do they actually work? I would say the shoes that have got the most hype is the Skechers Shape Ups,so we very excited to take these to the streets.
When the shoes first arrived, I did notice that they did not look like your regular sneaker, nor did they look like the Reebok Toning shoe or the Earth Toning shoes. They looked more rounded and had a very large padded sole area, giving the shoes quite a bit of height. They were a fair bit heavier as well than a regular sneaker. I personally thought they looked a little odd almost like an orthopedic shoe.
When I slipped them on to go out, I noticed right away that they were so comfortable. I am not talking about the comfort of my normal trainers but even more so. They felt like you were walking on air, well almost air. Maybe air cushion is a better description. They were the most comfortable shoe I have ever tried on.
While walking with the Skechers on, you feel almost like a rocking sensation. It was not a weird or strange feeling. It felt very natural and almost like I had more of a bounce to my step. I have worn these several times for walking and doing everyday errands. They was no breaking in period for me. Comfort from the get go. I do believe that these shoes are working more muscles than walking with regular shoes on, hence you will burn more calories. I could feel different muscles in my calves, hamstrings and glutes working harder. They would be great for taking long walks, doing chores and even standing in them. But, sorry girlfriends, these will not MAKE you lose weight just by walking in them. Cardio, weight training and eating right are still key.
The Skecher Shape-Ups come in many different colors, different styles and in the Mary-Jane dressier shoe. Hey, you can even pick up a pair for your man! Hint..Father’s Day is coming!
As all of the “toning’ Shoes, these are Skechers claim to fame:

out of 5 dumbbells.
I do still think they look a little odd with shorts or capri’s. They scream “toning shoe’ a bit too much, but hey that’s me. But, yes, I am still going to continue to wear them with long pants. Just too comfy not to.
We are putting ’TONING’ Shoes to the test! See which ones the GGS crew think you should try out!
I just wish these shoes had come out when I was carless at college and working as a waitressing. My feet were always killing me!

I just got the Sketchers Shape- Ups for Christmas. Boy, they are comfy from the minute I put them on. As I walked on them, I noticed I was walking with straighter posture. I could feel my back muscles and stomach muscles engaged and a lighter step in my walk. I might even try a pair of Sketchers Tone-Up boots or other Tone/Shape
-up shoes.

I agree completely with everything you’ve said about Shape Ups. I loved them the moment I put them on. Weight loss – probably not, but comfort and extra muscles being used – a big yes!
Any of these shoes fit very wide, flat & bunioned feet??? :-O
Thx for the reviews!

I had tried on a pair of these and the Reebok and the Avia motion shoes. I ended up buying the Aviva shoes which i bought recently and they seem very comfortable. They all were different on the foot but i also was a size up on all the shoes i tried than my usual size so they must have more material on the inside or they are made different.
I don’t usually buy myself expensive shoes but my Husband and i had to go get our youngest son some shoes and we saw these and my Husband said why not get a pair as you always have sore feet and back and this might help out.
So far i am really liking the shoes and i hope they help with the aches and get me in shape.
I have never heard of the avia motion shoes. I tell you every shoes company is really getting the band wagon with these shoes. I will have to google avia and see what they are all about. Thank you for sharing your experience with your new shoes!
