More Healthy Drinks Guide

Well, summer is almost over. I am so sad to see it go. Who’s been guilty of drinking too much beer/wine and soda over the summer? I would have to confess, I have been indulging way more than I usually do. It’s all those lazy summer nights, bbqs, picnics and dinner’s out. For me it’s time to get back to the healthy eating and drinking. It’s also nice to have some other healthy alternatives along with water to rehydrate you. So I was super excited to see some samples of healthy drinks come into the office for the GGS crew to try. This review is going to be strictly on taste and some benefits of the drink that I think are particularly uni
que to the drink. For the full nutritional and ingredient list, please refer to their site.
The first one I was actually a bit scared to try. It was called the Green Machine by Naked Juice. The saying on the bottle was “Looks weird.” Sip. “Tastes amazing.” Sip. “Hey, 10 green turbo-nutrients?” Sip. “Still looks weird.” Yikesss and yes, it did look super weird. But, this drink was super surprisingly delicious. It was super thick and I could only drink half of it slowly, which is a good thing. The nutritional stats are crazy GOOD! The Green Machine has 6 different fruits and 10 different ‘boost’ with no added sugar. I have no idea how they got this drink to taste this good, honestly. This drink deserves the title of SUPERFOOD drink. Yummy! Good job, Naked Juice. Check out all of their juice flavors, including new ones, including Protein Zone Very Berry!
The next healthy drink I tried was solixir. I was sent all 3 flavors, Orange mate which claims to awaken, Blackberry chamomile which claims to relax and Pomegranate ginger which claims to restore. This drink is a bubbly drink with no sugar or artificial flavors. Weather it was in my mind or not, I did find the awaken drink give me a ‘pick me upper’ like coffee does. It was so nice to find a drink that helped me through my afternoon slump other than coffee. All three flavors were not sweet but tasted almost like a slightly flavored sparkling water. They were all very refreshing. I love when I find an alternative to soda. Thank you, solixir!

Lastly, the next drink was the most like regular water, called elevate. It comes in 2 flavors, lemon and orange. Elevate has combined 6 grams of fibre with 50 calories in every bottle. Need a reminder on why you need more fibre in your diet, click here! The taste for both flavors were pretty good, my favorite being the orange. I did find the lemon a bit artificial tasting. Each bottle does have added simple sugar in it which is better than artificial sweeteners, in my opinion. The big selling point to this water is the added fibre. Is it worth it? Well, if you are not getting enough fibre in your diet with food than yes, I think it is. To me it is certainly better than some other powdered fibre additives.

About the Author: I am a gym junkie but always find myself looking for new ways to stay active. You can usually find me hanging with my 2 kids at the soccer field, ice rink, dance studio or swimming pool. Other than that, I am usually at my computer, watching ellen, or making some fab dish for my hubby.

Will have to check out the stats of those drinks. Water in in my fridge along with zero calorie flavored water… well & my unsweetened vanilla almond breeze!
I love my Naked Juice…it is the best juice out there! The other 2 I have not tried…will look for them on the shelves!
