Review: S2H REPLAY – get rewarded for working out

My kids are in love.

But I’m not worried. Nope.

I fully support them in their newest infatuation….here, take a look. T. has it on her wrist.  Isn’t it cute?!

When Sian passed this little gadget, the S2H Replay from S2H.com, to me for review I wasn’t sure what to expect.  After all, I already have my muchlovedandtrustyGarmin GPS watch with all the bells and whistles. So what on earth could this little rubber/bracelet/wristband do that my Garmin can’t?

S2H REPLAYLots.

It’s actually not even comparable to a sports watch, it doesn’t record anything. It’s just a totally different concept.

Think of it as the next generation of Livestrong wristband that rewards you for working out.

60 minutes of moderate/ intense activity = a reward code you upload to the site.  Brisk walking, running, dancing, jumping, etc, all count. Sitting on the couch eating cheesies does not. (um, all in the name of the review, right?)

What sort of rewards, you may ask?

Sorry, Sian, no beer…BUT some really cool prizes from corporate partners such as Wii Fit, Xbox, Staples, Blockbuster, Barnes and Noble, The Home Depot, and more. You can see the lure for kids to want to wear it and be active and get rewarded with cool rewards like those!  Actually, you can see the attraction for us adults as well.

But…

I only got a chance to wear it twice on my runs (Garmin on my left wrist as usual, S2H rockin’ my right) before my kids swooped in like little vultures and confiscated it from me.  Before they did, I found it comfortable and non-irritating on both 6 mile runs, once in heavy rain, once on a warm/hot day.  Every time I looked down at it, the little smiley face beamed up at me. I think if I’d been able to keep it any longer I’d probably have named it.  And as Sian knows, I’d probably start talking to it, too.  Yikes, now that I think of it, maybe it’s a good thing the kids got it.

Anywho….here’s generally how it works:

  1. Wear the S2H Replay watch for 60 minutes of moderate to intense activity and get a reward code
  2. Log in to the S2H.com website (you’ll have to register, which I found to be quick and painless on my impatience-meter)
  3. Upload your code.
  4. Repeat.
  5. Build your reward points and when you’ve got enough for what you want,
  6. Redeem your points for the reward you choose.
  7. Check in with the leaderboard to see how you compare to others

I found the website clear, fun, and super easy to navigate. But I did have a minute of trouble entering the codes (digital letters and numbers on the watch can sometimes be confused for another letter or number). This is a problem they’ve tried to address, as when you enter a wrong code a little box pops up to assist you with letters you may have confused.  I had difficulty with recognizing the “J” and mixing up the “1″ and the “I”.  But after a minute I got it worked out and the reward code was accepted.  My recommendation would be that if your kids are using it, you may want to help them with the code entry.

This fly little guy gets a HUGE thumbs up from GGS. We love the fact that it rewards you for being active. My hope for my kids (well, one in particular) is that it will help make them more aware of their activity level and that it will encourage making a lifelong habit of being active – something my husband and I model for the kids as well.  In our view the S2H Replay is one more helpful tool in our healthy lifestyle toolbox.

Retailing at 19.99 on their website (you can purchase different color bands for a few bucks if you want to change them up), this is a completely affordable way to reinforce the fun and benefits of being active.

s2h replay is a terrible product. I have a wristwatch as well as my cousin and my niece. All three of them worked for about 2 weeks. Mine has outlasted them all. After you start logging in and earning rewards, the watch just stops logging most of your activity. I do Zumba or dance on my wii Just Dance 2 for over an hour everyday. I have not been able to log more than 3 minutes of activity for over a week now. That is over 540 points lost that I cannot get back. I have not received a reply to my first complaint either. My cousin’s watch worked for count them, 10 days! We worked out for 3 hours and it logged 2 bars. She has to pay to ship the product back and wait to receive another one and has lost over a month of reward points now. Aweful product that I would not recommend if they do not fix these problems.

Waste of money. I ordered the pedometer in October, it took 2 months to arrive! That was in December. It is now Jan 31 and the battery has just died. Will not recommend or spend any more money on. Also, lots of decent rewards are “coming soon”. Don’t waste your money.

I love the idea of this product, however it is only meant to last for 18 months, and then I guess you are supposed to throw it away and buy a new one. I would like to see one that’s not disposable.

  7. I love this! I know my little guy will want one, especially since he wants to do whatever his parents are doing in the way of exercise anyway.

  8. Very cool idea! Love that pic too! :-)
