Review – New Balance NBx WindBlocker Jacket and Cross-Training 877

Spring will be here before you know it and it is always my favorite time to go out for my runs.  Between the warmer weather, plants waking up from the long winter, and just the smell in the air, nothing makes me want to lace up my running shoes more than Spring.  But the weather can be a bit tricky. The other day I began a run in what was warm sunshine and ended it sopping wet in a beautiful fall downpour. So I’m always looking for gear that is light yet keeps me warm.

So, when New Balance  pitched for us to try some gear to help us move into the warmer weather, I was ready to, well, run!

NBx WindBlocker Jacket

053200_bbr_1This jacket was the perfect jacket for almost all-weather conditions.  I love this color of this jacket with the bright yellow trim.   As your body heats up, the jacket helps keep that warmth in, while also absorbing moisture.   It was great thumb holes and of course a hidden pocket for your music/ keys etc.   New Balance explains  the jacket so well:

Don’t let the bitter cold keep you from your run! The New Balance NBx Windblocker Jacket is just the thing for the job: it’s windproof, water-resistant, moisture-wicking, reflective, and ready to keep you dry and comfortable even in lower temperatures or adverse weather conditions. Loaded with convenience, storage and visibility features and the technology to make your workout better than ever, this music-friendly jacket uses stretch knit brushed back fleece combined with thermal wind block fabric retain and reinforce your body heat, keeping you warm enough to get going, then finish what you started!

Thumbs up for this jacket.  Please note, while not available on-line, this jacket is available in stores.

Cross-Training – New Balance 877

Yes, you might be saying ‘these aren’t running shoes’ but yes, I did wear them for a slow, easy short run.  These shoes win the title of “lightest, super flexible, incredibly light-weight and extra breathable” award.     This shoe untitledliterally fits like a glove.  You cannot really tell in the picture but they have this super stretchy material on the top and the sole is multi-density insert provides excellent cushioning.   Really unlike any ‘trainer’ I have ever tried on.  These shoes are also perfect for a quick jaunt with the pup or a CrossFit-style workout where I’m jumping, running and doing all kinds of other craziness and want to be light on my feet and close to the ground. They wrap around your feet well and just feel right.

You can feel it when you use it; it’s pretty darn cool.  New Balance states:

The update to the wildly succesful 813, the New Balance 877 retains the slipper-like feel of the previous edition but completely updates the upper with a welded application to eliminate irritation that comes from rubbing. The stretch textile upper is a fashion-forward statement perfect for the gym or boot camp, and the durable pivot point outsole assists you and offers stable ground contact as you work out.

I dare you to try these on, you will agree with me on these shoes and not want to take them off.

Toes up for these puppies!

Here’s to Spring!
