GGS is super excited to have The Biggest Loser, home winner, Gina McDonald exclusive ’6 tips on how she was able to stay on the weight loss plan at home’ to share with our readers!
Losing it at home was incredibly hard. I lost 29 pounds during the 8 weeks at home and worked harder than any time I spent on the Ranch.

My Six Tips to Losing Weight at Home Are:

1. Believe

Believe you can make changes in your daily life that will impact the remainder of your life in a very positive way
For me. Realizing that I could do this at home and having faith and belief in the process changed everything for me.
Remember that sometime our body does not respond as quickly as we want it to! Some weeks at home I lost zero pounds but worked harder than ever and was on point with diet! Then the next week bam! I had to maintain my belief in the process day-to-day!

2. Organize

I became very orderly while training at home and have maintained that order since the finale. To not organize leads to chaos and with chaos we loss control of the things in life that are within our control.
I take steps every night to plan and organize my day.. What I am wearing to workout, to work, food choices, errands. Etc

3. Sleep

Sleep is critical for our bodies and minds. I made sure that I got 8-10 hours of rest time each day.

4. Starve no more

You have to eat to lose weight! Eating lean protein balanced with good fat and carbohydrates worked for me

5. Monitor!

I monitored every aspect of my day using my BodyMedia armband. Knowing your calorie burn each day, sleep patterns, and logging your meals takes all of the guesswork out of your day! You know exactly where you are each and everyday.

6. Exercise.

I exercised a lot during my time at home but now I do cardio 1 hour a day and do body weight and strength training for 30 minutes.

I enjoy puttering around the kitchen, nibbling on my favorite comfort foods while I experiment with new recipes to surprise my family with. I was very cautious about working out, worried about injuring myself again. I started off slowly at first. I decided that I would have to work hard on my core and this has been my focus for the past couple of years
