Would you paint your house pink for a worthy cause?
Long-time breast cancer volunteer Joanie Lucas did just that! The loving mom, grandma, dedicated friend, and passionate breast cancer volunteer picked up a paint brush to help raise awareness for the cause this October. After losing four of her closest friends to breast cancer, Joanie’s life mission became helping other Denver women fighting the disease. In 19 years, she’s helped generate millions of dollars in funds through her work with the Denver Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Yoplait teamed up with Joanie to turn her house pink as a reminder that breast cancer impacts women in our communities and that through programs like Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives, the fight against the disease starts in our neighborhoods, next door, even right in our kitchens. Volunteers, neighbors, family and friends helped transform Joanie’s house this week. In preparation for the official unveiling, they painted the house and fence pink, collected pink Yoplait lids, chalked the driveway with inspirational messages, and left pink handprints on a fence symbolizing this community effort. The event culminated with a live press conference from Joanie’s home on Wednesday afternoon, which streamed live on Yoplait’s Facebook page. You can view it right on Yoplait’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/Yoplait) on the Save Lids to Save Lives tab.
Not sure you are ready to paint your own house pink?
Through Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives, it’s simple to support your community’s efforts to help women impacted by breast cancer, because funds generated through your local lid collection will go back to breast cancer programs in your community. Yoplait will donate ten cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for each pink lid redeemed online at Yoplait.com and via mail by December 31, 2011, up to a potential $2 million. Find out how you can join Yoplait and make a difference year-round in the fight against breast cancer at Yoplait.com or Facebook.com/Yoplait. You can dedicate your lids to a woman who means something to you, read inspirational stories about people, like Joanie, who are making a local impact in the fight, and find out how to support your local Affiliate.
Don’t forget that for every comment you leave in the month of October, GGS Media is donating $1 to Breast Cancer Research-so comment away!
