the Cobra Club yoga center is rather unusual. Located in a large room behind a lively cafe, instead of a devotional altar glamorous silky drapes and chandeliers hang from the ceiling. The positive, encouraging teachers offer a gentle meditation at the end of each class, leaving students feeling very relaxed as well as energised by the poses and stretches.
Ocean or Ujjayi breathing also helps to focus on slowing down and letting go. The philosophy here is very different to other places, however. You don’t have to be a purist to attend – they welcome ‘misfits’ and won’t mind if you have a glass of wine in the cafe after class. There is even a Hangover Yoga class held on Sundays. This is a place for everyone, from tattooed hedonists to health-food-loving yogis.
