Festival Trends that You Need to Know About in 2017

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that Coachella has just been and gone, it was plastered all over Snapchat and Twitter and has been all anybody could talk about ever since. Celebrities, models and hedonistic music-lovers all flocked there wearing this season’s latest trends and styles.
As well as being jealous of the amazing experience, we can learn a lot from the style choices of this festival and make it our own. Festivals are a place where people can express their innermost beings and have an outlet for creative fashion genius.
If you’re stuck for inspiration and need a starting point, then take note of these biggest trends that are set to hit the muddy fields in the coming months.
Boho
Boho was born in the 60s, when the days were longer and the festivals were a journey of self-discovery. The Boho Hippy look is always going to be the perfect go-to look to fuel your style inspo this season!
In 2016 flower power reigned supreme and floral headbands graced the heads over every single person who passed through the gates of the festival – fast forward to 2017 and flower headbands are no-more, try to avoid this dated look as it is quickly becoming a tacky novelty and a bit of a cliché!
Instead focus your style energy on those killer suede fringe jackets and floaty bardot blouses. The best thing about wearing a boho floats outfit is that you’re going to be as comfortable as you are stylish (bonus). This style choice doesn’t follow the mantra “fashion is pain”, so let your inner floaty goddess roam free as you twirl about in the sunshine to your favourite music.
Space Age Everything
The metallic space age look is absolutely huge this year and we love it! The runways were heaving with models sporting the out of this world metallic look, crossed between ice queen and space princess.
Think metallic platform sandals, shiny halter neck tops and metallic lipsticks, that will look like you’ve been plucked from the year 3000. One of the best outfit styles to go for is a foiled metallic dress paired with some chunky boots to give a real funky space vibe.
Embrace your inner princess Laya with a pair of buns – this will not only look really cool, but it will also stop your hair from getting in the way whilst you’re trying to dance, what could be better?!
Body Glitter is Making a Comeback
If you were around in the 90s, then you’ll definitely remember that roll on body glitter was the epitome of style for every age.
This is massively making a comeback this Summer, so prepare yourself for glitter roots, glitter makeup, face glitter, glitter in your food, glitter when you sleep, glitter and more glitter (can you tell we are excited about this??).
You can be as expressive as you want with this style trend, cover it all over your body, or be as sparing as possible – it’s totally your call. Just give it a try and you’ll soon love it!
Be Comfortable
I mean, wearing sequin hot pants and a crop top may seem like a good idea at the time and you may look fabulous, but after a day of dancing, chances are that the sequins are going to rub, the hot pants are going to ride up and you’re going to spend more time adjusting yourself than you do dancing.
Keep yourself looking stylish and fashion forward, but also think about your sanity! Wearing something floaty and bohemian may seem like a fashion statement – but it’s also a practical and comfortable look.
Do Denim Right
There’s no real wrong way to do denim, it’s so versatile and will never go out of style. One of the most popular trends for 2016 was dungaree dresses, this year it’s going to be all about the mom jeans dungarees with a cool tee to finish the look off.
Another all-time favourite of ours are the daisy duke cut downs, you can’t go wrong with a pair of shorts, the perfect tee and some funky shoes to really set the outfit off. Picture yourself in a field, with a drink in hand, the sun shining down on you whilst you’re sporting some casual yet cool shorts that will never go out of style.
Conclusion
Festivals should be a fun experience, one that you remember for the rest of your life, the perfect outfit is only part of the experience, but as you look back on your photos in years to come you want to be able to look back with pride rather than look back and cringe at your outfit choice!
These are only pointers to go by, so go as crazy or as casual as you feel and enjoy every minute!
