“I’m Too Busy To Be Healthy”

Choosing an active, healthy lifestyle is a commitment, of course it is. However, all too often, all we hear from those around us are excuses. You can’t expect to go to the gym once and see fab results, and unfortunately, one salad never made anyone skinny. So, yeah, okay, there’s a fair bit of effort involved in changing the way you think about everything from your exercise regime to your relationship with food, but there’s no reason to be “too busy” to improve your own health. Health is more important than looks at the end of the day anyway, and there’s a reason why the current trending mantra is “strong not skinny”.
Make Small Changes
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and your new body won’t be, either. If you try and cut out everything at once (sugars, carbs, etc.) you’ll wind up miserable and never sticking to your commitments, so it’s better to do everything in moderation. Make small changes to get an idea of what you enjoy about healthy living, and the rest will follow. If you can’t physically get to a gym, you can always buy one or two things for the home before getting tied in to anything.
Make Time For Food
Don’t skip on those meals! Seriously, you might think that the easiest quick fix for weight loss is calorie deficit, but it’s not going to do your body any favours. Instead of missing out on the vital nutrition that we all actually need to survive, we can make sure we’re eating little and often. If you’re going to the gym and training regularly then you’re going to need to have a little extra. Cooking for yourself is healthier than buying ready meals (even when they say they’re the low fat kind), so why not have a few staples to fall back on for those days when you’re in a rush but you need some good old home cooking?
Don’t Set Unrealistic Expectations
We’re all different, and our bodies are, too. There’s absolutely no point trying to aspire to look like the next Kardashian because – newsflash – you probably don’t have the money for starters, and you’re not a Kardashian, you’re you. What works for some people won’t work for others. Sadly, the fact that some of us take longer than others to be recognised as looking quite so amazing tends to put some people off, and as a result, it just seems like more hassle than it’s worth – don’t give up! To start, there are a fair few ways you can get fit for free, so why not start there?
Find Ways To Keep Fit On The Go
In the office late and not got time to squeeze in a workout? It happens. There are plenty of other activities you can get involved with. There are loads of ways to get in a little cardio in the office, and it might just be that ‘deskercise’ catches on at your place of work. Alternatively you can get off the bus a few stops early or scope out a supermarket a little further from home just to grab a few extra active minutes.
No matter what you do to keep healthy, just listen to your body. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself because you’ll only wear yourself out – and that’s not good for you at all.
